Yixiao grew up in China's cultural center Beijing. She spent 10 years of childhood singing at Beijing Philharmonic Choir, with which she toured around the world, performed at the 2008 Olympics Opening, and won dozens of international awards.

Yixiao discovered her passion for acting when she was a Computer Engineering student at Cornell University. Shortly after, she studied Meisner Technique for 3 years at Michael Chekhov Actors Studio Boston and is currently training at the Institute for American Musical Theatre in NYC.
